Effective Date: 1 January 2026
At SkyHigh Academy, the safety and wellbeing of every child in our care is our highest priority. This Child Safety Policy outlines the steps we take to ensure all tutoring sessions are safe, respectful, and supportive learning environments.
SkyHigh Academy is committed to:
Promoting the safety, participation, and empowerment of all students
Preventing abuse or harm through clear procedures and tutor training
Creating a culture of trust, respect, and accountability between students, tutors, and families
We believe all children have the right to feel safe and supported during every learning interaction.
All tutors engaged by SkyHigh Academy must:
Hold a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) or equivalent clearance
Undergo a screening process to assess academic ability, communication skills, and professional conduct
Read and agree to SkyHigh Academy’s Tutor Handbook, Code of Conduct, and Child Safety Policy
Tutors are expected to:
Maintain professional boundaries with students
Never communicate with students outside of approved tutoring platforms or hours
Avoid one-on-one unsupervised contact in informal or private settings
Report any signs of harm, neglect, or misconduct to SkyHigh Academy immediately
Online sessions must be held through approved platforms (e.g. Zoom). Tutors and students must dress appropriately and work in quiet, visible spaces (e.g. not in bedrooms with closed doors).
In-person sessions should take place in common areas of the home, with parents/guardians present or nearby.
Tutors must not use inappropriate language, gestures, or behaviour of any kind during sessions.
Students should never be left alone with a tutor outside of scheduled sessions.
Tutors, students, and parents are encouraged to report any concerns, including:
Inappropriate behaviour by a tutor or student
Bullying or harassment
Signs of distress, harm, or neglect
Any breach of this policy
All concerns will be handled seriously and confidentially.
